Old Slavonic for Windows
Nine TrueType® and Type 1 fonts: OldSlavonicLS
represents the earlier, and perhaps more complete, form of Slavonic, with many
letter-forms which were dropped or disappeared over the years. BookSlavonic reproduces the
more common form of Slavonic encountered in liturgical and other texts, and is optimized
for laser-printing. ChurchSlavonicLS includes the faint sloping calligraphic flavor of the
alphabet seen in books today and would therefore be better for those who have 600 dpi or
better printers. SlavonicLS is the same as OldSlavonicLS, except that the i and n are
replaced with the modern form of these characters for those users who prefer those forms.
NewSlavonicFull (plain and italic) contains the same character set as OldSlavonicLS but the
characters are in a modern Cyrillic style. NewSlavonicLite (plain and
italic) is the same as
NewSlavonicFull but most of the diacritic marks have been removed for typing
text with a bare minimum of accents. SlavonicExtras contains rarely used Slavonic characters complementing the other fonts.
Includes a software keyboard driver with a transliterated keyboard arrangement for efficient
keyboard entry of overstriking swashes for omitted characters, etc.
All of the fonts are in plain style only except NewSlavonicFull and
NewSlavonicLite are in both plain and italic styles. To allow full compatibility between fonts, all
characters in OldSlavonicLS have been reproduced in BookSlavonic, ChurchSlavonicLS,
SlavonicLS, NewSlavonicFull and NewSlavonicLite (except NewSlavonicLite lacks
most of the diacritics found in the other fonts).
System Requirements: The TrueType® fonts install into Microsoft® Windows 7, Vista, XP, or 2000, and work with all Windows
7-, Vista-, XP-, and 2000-compatible
applications that allow the user to select fonts from a font menu. (A previous version
is available for Windows NT, Me, 98, or 95; please contact the
Sales office.) The product includes
a User's Manual and keyboard layout chart(s). The included keyboard driver(s) allows access to
four characters per key (instead of the normal two) and alternate keyboard
layouts. All documentation is in PDF format, available on the Windows Start
menu, and can be viewed and/or printed using
Adobe Reader. The fonts will print to any printer at
the highest quality allowed by your printer.
A custom version (fonts only) is available
for Linux,
but Linux users must provide alternate keyboard input for characters in the
extended character set. If you are ordering for Linux be sure to select the
Linux box on the Order Form.
