LaserTransliterator for Windows
TrueType® and Type-1 fonts for transliterating most of the world's
languages: SemiticaLS in plain, bold,
italic, and bold-italic styles and Roman
plain. LaserTransliterator includes the complete
character sets of 130 languages, including all Roman-based European languages.
The product also
includes a mini-space to aid precise positioning of overstriking diacritics.
SemiticaLS contains 48 overstrikes and follows the keyboard layout of the Times® font for standard
English punctuation marks. The Roman font includes extra overstriking
diacritics. (See the samples below.) Keyboard Switcher (included) assists fast typing of overstrikes
over any letter or symbol and in any combination, for the transliteration of most of the
world's languages.
SemiticaLS is ASCII-compatible with the Macintosh version of the font, making
transfer of files between platforms easy.
LaserTransliterator is available in two typestyles, Times-style
(LaserTransliterator), and Courier-style (LaserTransliteratorMono).
LaserTransliterator Pro includes the contents of both LaserTransliterator and
LaserTransliteratorMono. Note: LaserTransliterator (Times-style only) also
includes the Semitica® font in plain, bold,
italic, and bold-italic styles, for
compatibility with that older font in older files, but users are encouraged to
use the newer SemiticaLS.
The fonts install into Microsoft® Windows XP, 2000, NT, Me, 98, 95, or 3.1x
and work with all Windows XP-, 2000-, NT-, Me-, 98-, 95- and 3.1x-compatible
applications that allow the user to select fonts from a font menu. The
Type 1
fonts require Adobe Type Manager® in Windows Me/98/95/3.1. The product includes
a User's Manual, keyboard layout chart(s), and Character Code Tables showing
every character in the font(s). The included Keyboard Switcher (keyboard driver)
allows access to
four characters per key (instead of the normal two) and alternate keyboard layouts.
The fonts alone (without Keyboard Switcher) will install into Linux,
but Linux users must provide alternate keyboard input for characters in the
extended character set. These fonts will print to any printer at
the highest quality allowed by your printer.
LaserTransliterator provides the diacritics necessary for transliteration of most of
the world's languages. However, for transliteration of Indian languages, we recommend our
specialized font, TransIndic Transliterator; and for
transliteration of Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, and Ugaritic, we recommend our
specialized font, Semitic Transliterator. For a discussion of the
wide range of our products that help with transliteration, see our Transliteration
page.
Cost: US$ 99.95 for a single typestyle (Times®- or Courier®-style);
$149.95 for LaserTransliterator Pro, containing both typestyles Order

Here's what others are saying about LaserTransliterator:
"I have used a lot of different fonts, both for
Macintosh and Windows, during last 25 years, and - as far as linguistic
fonts are concerned - I have not found better fonts than yours. As a
matter of fact, I have to say that both your Windows and Mac
LaserTransliterator fonts are excellent."
Prof. Dr. Ljubisa Rajic, Department of Scandinavian Studies,
Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, Beograd,Serbia
"The LaserTransliterator fonts have been of immeasurable value in my work
since 1992, and I am very thankful for them and for their new versions."
Prof. Dr. Ljubisa Rajic, University of Belgrade, Serbia
"I could barely have survived without 'Semitica' over the
last eleven years. Over the years I've much appreciated all that you have
done. Semitica, duly acknowledged, was the official font for Routledge's
Colloquial Lithuanian, which I wrote with Meilute Ramoniene. In my early
computer days, I actually designed lots of fonts myself; quite soon I
discovered your fonts — I never developed another font! Very best wishes."
Professor Ian Press, University of St. Andrews, Scotland
"I first bought Macintosh fonts from Linguist's Software at least 15
years ago, and I was immediately impressed with their quality and used them
for years with no problems whatsoever. When I switched to the Windows
platform a few years ago, I tried several different sorts of fonts, but none
of them were comparable in quality and ease of use to your products. My
purchase a few days ago only served to confirm once again that fonts from
Linguist's Software are in a class by themselves. (May I also compliment you
on the excellent user's manuals that you produce; I'm glad that your company
is willing to buck the minimalist trend in the industry and continue produce
well-written, well-produced, very comprehensive hard-copy manuals.) A
satisfied customer..."
