LaserIPA for Windows
Professional-quality, hinted, scalable fonts in both ATM®-compatible, Type 1 and
TrueType® formats: IPAKielSeven, IPAExtras, IPAHighLow,
IPAKiel, IPAsans, PhoneticOx,
PhoneticOxII, PhoneticOxSans, and PhoneticOxSansII. The IPAKielSeven font includes all
currently-approved IPA symbols and diacritical marks and is provided in plain
and bold styles. The IPAKiel font contains the former standard IPA character
set. The diacriticals in these fonts overstrike
any symbol in any combination with other overstrikes. All diacriticals in
IPAKielSeven have corresponding
raised positions to go over ascenders, and lowered positions to go under descenders, in
the IPAHighLow font, which is also provided in plain and bold. The IPAExtras
font is a companion to IPAKielSeven and contains characters not found in the
IPA-approved or Kiel-Convention-approved character sets, and which are either
obsolete or were never IPA-approved, but which are useful to some users. It is
provided in plain and bold styles. IPASupplement is a serif font containing
supplemental characters and symbols and is provided in plain only. IPAsans is a
sans serif font with an older IPA character set preceding the Kiel Convention
and is provided in plain only. PhoneticOx (a Times-style font) contains phonetic symbols used in the Oxford
English Dictionary.
PhoneticOxSans is a sans serif (Helvetica-style) version. PhoneticOxII includes
characters used in the Oxford English Dictionary, 2nd Ed., and the OED CD
version. PhoneticOxSansII is a sans serif (Helvetica-style) version.
System Requirements: The TrueType® fonts install into Microsoft® Windows Vista, XP, 2000, or NT, and work with all Windows
Vista-, XP-, 2000-, and NT-compatible
applications that allow the user to select fonts from a font menu. (A previous version for Windows Me, 98, or 95, and a custom version
compatible with Windows 3.1 is available by request.) The product includes
a User's Manual, keyboard layout chart(s), and Character Code Table(s) showing
every character in the font(s). The included keyboard driver(s) allows access to
four characters per key (instead of the normal two) and alternate keyboard
layouts. All documentation is in PDF format, available on the Windows Start
menu, and can be viewed and/or printed using
Adobe Reader. The fonts will print to any printer at
the highest quality allowed by your printer.
A custom version (fonts only) is available
for Linux,
but Linux users must provide alternate keyboard input for characters in the
extended character set. If you are ordering for Linux be sure to select the
Linux box on the Order Form.
Cost: US$ 99.95 Order

Here's what others are saying about LaserIPA:
"For years now I've loved your fonts - they're simply the best. Nothing
on the market, whether free or for purchase, comes close."
Dr. Ron Giese, Desert Springs Church, Albuquerque, NM, USA
"The LaserIPA fonts have been of immeasurable value in my work since
1992, and I am very thankful for them and for their new versions."
Prof. Dr. Ljubisa Rajic, University of Belgrade, Serbia
"I have used Linguist's Software fonts
for twenty years now and have always been pleased. They are a genuine help in my
ministry."
Dr. Judith L. Hill, Evangelical School of Theology, Bangui,
Central African Republic
"I could barely have survived without 'IPA Kiel'
over the last eleven years. Over the years I've much appreciated all that you
have done and have been singing the praises of LaserIPA. In my early computer
days, I actually designed lots of fonts myself; quite soon I discovered your
fonts — I never developed another font!...Installation was very straightforward.
Very best wishes."
Professor Ian Press, University of St. Andrews, Scotland
"I first bought Macintosh fonts from Linguist's Software at
least 15 years ago, and I was immediately impressed with their quality and used
them for years with no problems whatsoever. When I switched to the Windows
platform a few years ago, I tried several different sorts of fonts, but none of
them were comparable in quality and ease of use to your products. My purchase a
few days ago only served to confirm once again that fonts from Linguist's
Software are in a class by themselves. (May I also compliment you on the
excellent user's manuals that you produce; I'm glad that your company is willing
to buck the minimalist trend in the industry and continue produce well-written,
well-produced, very comprehensive hard-copy manuals.) A satisfied customer..."
Jack Hagge, Iowa State University, Program in Linguistics
"LaserIPA works fine for us."
Dr. Baldur Neuber, Germany
"Thanks for doing a great job on the IPAKielSeven documents
[you converted for my professor into the new font format for Word
97/2000]."
Ron at the University of California, Irvine
"Thank you very much for your full and illuminating answer.
A very professional attitude indeed. I am ordering LaserIPA right now."
Anne Przewozny, Lardy, France
"Thank you so much for the quick reply....I have just tried to
type the tone marks, and it works! I really appreciate your assistance."
Margaret M. Yan, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN
